Progress
Report: March 2005
As many
of you know, BILD has been working in Nigeria for almost ten years. Most of that work has been to lay solid
foundations for the training opportunities that we have been invited to implement and are now ready to implement in all of ECWA and Nigeria. Over the course of the last three years, BILD has engaged
in week-long training sessions (three each year) in partnership with C-BLD
NigeriaChurch-Based Leadership Development, the BILD International counterpart
in Nigeria, directed by Dr. Musa Asake. This
partnership represents one of BILD's widest open doors of opportunity.
The
completed training modules of the last three years have produced 3 specific
objectives:
1. 200 influential pastors and
leaders have been trained in the primary Level 3 Training (Vocational) and
church maturing strategies to become the early "first round" of leaders in
training.
2. As resources permitted, these pastors,
in turn, implemented the training in their churches and spheres of influence,
resulting in nearly 5,000 leaders in training at Level 1 (Grassroots) and Level
3 (Vocational). There are also numerous reports of teams who have been sent to
plant churches as a result of the training.
3. God has given us a group of nearly
50 gifted pastors who have been captivated by the C-BTE philosophy of church
and leadership development (Level 4Regional), who will be the "frontline" of
leadership for C-BLD Nigeria. They represent key Regional Resource Center Churches in
the predominately Muslim populated Northern and Central regions of Nigeria. These leaders will now begin a
phase of development (this June) that positions them to be trainers among their
regional networks of churches and will equip them to steward the 2nd
generation of expansion, which we estimate will be nearly 2,000 pastors in Level
3 (Vocational) and 25,000 in Level 1 (Grassroots) in 2005 and 2006.

Goals:
·
Transition Musa Asake
from ECWA General Secretary to full-time Director of C-BLD Nigeria.
·
Build a Resource Center in Abuja, with seed capital, for a self-sustaining
printing and distribution center (for-profit printing enterprise). The land
has graciously been purchased, in full, by individuals and churches committed
to this Nigerian project.
·
Coordinate
expansion in targeted regions stewarded by the Regional Resource Center
Churches.
·
Establish a C-BLD
Nigeria Executive Leadership Team of pastors who begin to function as a
leadership team with Musa, and thus set in motion systems for management,
training, and tracking of this potentially exploding expansion.
With the
3 foundational objectives reached, it ushers in a new phase in the training and
expansion of the Nigerian project. Pray for these leaders, the needed
resources for their goals, and for God to encourage and strengthen the Church
in Nigeria so that they may be active about
His purposes.
