January
2006
Last
October and November key Cambodian leaders were in Ames for our training conference. Two important
developments emerged from that time:
1.
National
Strategy. One was a national strategy to literally saturate Cambodia with training and the expansion of
the gospel through churches planted and led by trained leaders from mature
churches. "It's really within our reach," states Paul Nuth, of the possibility of a church
within every town and village in the country.
2.
Leadership
Development Assessment. Secondly, a comprehensive plan was set in motion for
assessing the development of each leader in the 5 types of training by
utilizing the BILD Portfolio Assessment System. The assessment will give great
insight into the quality of the training at all levels as well as give an
accurate picture of where each leader is in his development. In its simplest
form, the BILD Portfolio provides mentors with a plan and tool for assessing
the spiritual, ministry, and character development of those with whom they
work.
So in
January, three of us from the BILD team went to Cambodia to visit the BILD-Cambodia partnership and to move it
toward the next level. We continued our training among top Cambodian Regional
Leaders, who are resourcing the BILDCambodia partnership in 11 different
provinces. The regional resource leaders in the provinces are working
extremely well with the people in their regions, having to deal with a balance
between opportunities for expansion and limited resources. There are estimated
to be approximately 8,00010,000 people in training for Type IV
Leaders—Grassroots Leaders to the top national leadership team. The training is
progressing very well.
In addition
to the training, Charlie Stagg, BILD's COO, assisted by Bob Green, met several
days with the larger BILD-Cambodia leadership team to put details around the
comprehensive national plan that had been drawn up at the Ames conference.
The trip
was a very productive time of ongoing program development and progress in the
training.
